Dear Readers,
I hope you get a chance to check out a pet project I started with my fellow "girlband" members. No, we're really not a band (although one of us, Susan Jennings, is in a band - Black Lake). We're a collective of 5 artists who came together to have a sustained conversation about our lives as artists balancing the pressures of $$, family, other creative endeavors. We are supporters of each other's careers, sharing encouragement, information and opportunities. We also have sponsored under-the-radar art events/collaborations involving other artists.
Our current pet project is "The Art Sandbox," a series of events launched on November 5, in which we invited other artists to participate in a "group make" session. We each brought a material we were interested in playing with and shared them with the larger group. Some worked individually, some collaboratively.
