Welcome to the next installment of “Is It Done?” where I get to show you something I’ve been working on and think might be finished.
I'm not sure what I'll be calling it, so it remains in the "untitled" realm until then. It’s a large watercolor and sumi ink painting on paper – about 42”Hx36”. I’m still interested in these large smoke forms, as you can see, but I also wanted to incorporate the deconstructed peacock feathers and fur strips that are a kind of wasted decadence set against the forced cheerfulness of wallpaper-like stripes.
Detail of the lower right corner.
Overall, I rather like it – for me, it’s got the push-pull of something light in feeling with something that’s brooding and much darker.
Is it done? Most likely yes...anyway, enjoy!
