I promise a more substantive post soon, but I've been (happily) consumed with co-organizing an exhibition at Kenise Barnes Fine Art called The "O!" Show. The exhibition is about OVER-THE-TOP-ness, and the all of the work revels differently in this concept, whether it's pure incendiary color, hallucinogenic sculptures or unexpected juxtapositions exploding, merging, or otherwise confronting the viewer.
I firmly believe the exuberance found in these pieces is contagious, so while I'm extremely proud of the physical show, I've also been focusing on extending the exhibition into the far-reaches of cyberspace ... or as far as facebook* and twitter presences can carry us.
In addition, I designed (I'm so proud!) a site that shows the work in the exhibition as well as introduces each of the artists and organizers. You can check it out here: www.kbfa-the-o-show.com. You'll see that there's a place for comments on each page as well as an entire area devoted to hearing from visitors (e.g., YOU) on what makes them (e.g., YOU) go "O!"
sOOOOO, please check out The "O" Show site and share what excites, inspires, intrigues, scares the shit out of, buoys, tickles, freaks you, etc, etc.... Email this around to your friends and family and ask them to participate. We really want to extend this as far as we can -- with so much to weigh us down, the intention behind The "O!" Show is ultimately to remind us all of the positive, wonderful, quirkly, scary, beautiful stuff that motivates us individually and collectively.
